Interpretation des Märes hinsichtlich seiner Gewaltinszenierung, die nicht nur bürgerlichen Adelsphantasien, sondern auch adeligen Gewaltphantasien der Lächerlichkeit preisgibt.
It seems rather audacious to investigate in pleasure in narrated violence: In times of school-shootings, our society regularly claims a direct link between having pleasure in narrated violence and having pleasure in actual violent acting. Having these discussions in mind, it seems remarkable that medieval courtly literature does not strive for the re-alization of narrated violence in actual violence, although the medieval courtly society claims violence as a legitimate way to achieve one’s goals. The novella Der Wiener Meerfahrt for example tells about drunken citizens of Vienna, who translate the violent narrative of crusade into practice. Within this grotesque forming of a community of vi-olence, the novella displays and criticizes courtly virtues in general and crusades as a special form of communities of violence, and it ridicules the direct translation of narrated violence into acts of violence.
